An effective ad is an essential element of any successful marketing campaign. It is a visual introduction to a company and the product or services offered. It also provides potential customers with important information, such as the benefits of a product or service and contact information.  
Visuals tend to attract more attention than words. Hence, use your illustrations and print design to enhance and emphasize your message. If you can, produce an image that is almost half the size of your entire ad to prove your point.
Research shows that people who look at pictures also read the picture caption if it's there, so make sure you include one.  Without color, your ad will not only be noticed less but people will also perceive it as being bland before even reading it.
